Pretty boy. Stunning lad. Sexy stallion. Papi chulo. Young Curly. Lionel Richie II. These are just a few of the nicknames (the original list contains a lot more) that Steven Appels, warmly commended and highly praised deejay, has been called since he was a little rascal.
The musical adventure of Amsterdam’s most renowned curly head has its starting post when he gets involved into rap music: numerous encounters with a pen, a piece of paper and a mic leads to the start of his rap career. It doesn’t take long before he starts to make a name for himself in the Dutch hip-hop scene. However, due to a surplus of rap talent (and therefore the lack of reasonable competition), he decides not to pursue a career as an A-list rapper but instead invests all of his precious time on two matters: being a pretty boy and, of course, DJing.
He adopts the moniker Mr. Wonder and yet again his undeniable talent becomes apparent. Errthang that has to do with eclectic music, this wonderful guy prepares, seasons, cooks and serves it freshly on your plate. Bon appetite.
By now, Mr. Wonder can already be counted as more than just a DJ. By organizing and hosting several successful club nights in Amsterdam, such as Classroom, Vunzige Deuntjes, Bad Girls Club (club Bitterzoet), #WONDERWEDNESDAYS (club Ludwig) and EPIC (club Panama), he provides for all the trendy fashionistas, big booty women and thirsty geezers of the capital’s nightlife.
Amsterdam, however, isn’t the only place where he’s hot. He’s a resident DJ in Brussels (Dead Forest, Bloody Louis), Antwerp (Red Cup Party) and Hannover (200 Ponies), where this born womanizer exactly gives the audience what they want to hear.
Whether he spins fiery sets, throws great parties, is a supporting act for international superstar Snoop Dogg (or Lion?), serves as in-house DJ for the craziest hip-hop collective of the Netherlands (Nouveau Riche) and deals with the daily commitments of being a light skinned pretty boy… Mr. Wonder does it all. Currently he spends a lot of time producing future hits in the studio. A few of these tracks can already be listened to, just check it out here! THROW DEM #WONDERSIGNS INNA DI AIR!
